GALLERY   Mosaic Projects for Schools

Examples of recent projects with children, including primary schools and youth groups.  Projects included collaboration with the children in making the mosaic.

Gladstone Park Primary School Completed Summer 2016

Site : Playground Wall

Project : Ceramics made with schoolchildren and mosaic buildings, completed by Debra.

Children made ceramic pieces and painted them in a number of workshops.  The motifs were based on London landmarks and what they enjoyed when visiting the city.  They also made ceramic portrait heads to feature in another area of the playground.  The children also made London landmarks out of mosaic tile on mesh which was incorporated into the main mosaic

Fleet Primary School Mosaic, Completed Summer 2021

Site : Front Entrance Wall, Fleet Primary School, Gospel Oak

Project : Collaboration with schoolchildren and London School of Mosaic (Joe Moss & volunteers)

Included design days, mosaic-making sessions (pupils and staff) and was installed directly on external brick wall using indirect method.

The mosaic was inspired by the huge 150 year old blossom tree in the grounds of the school. Drawings and individual blossom flowers from each child were incorporated into the design and final mosaic. The mosaics were worked on in sections (reverse method) and put together at the end.
