As a mosaic artist and workshop facilitator, she will bring a professional touch to the artwork by bringing the design together from children's drawings, guiding children and applying mosaic technique, and helping them work together.

The result will be a beautiful and durable artwork for the whole school to enjoy.

Debra offers one off classes, full day workshops and longer mosaic projects which enhance children's understanding of this ancient art form... as well as all the fun transferable skills picked up along the way.

What schools said...

Thank you again for your hard work with us in Year 3 - the children thought that you were kind, considerate and welcoming towards them.  It was an incredible way to come to the end of term .

You were definitely inspirational and helped the children produce their best work and had them talking about it throughout the week. If the opportunity arises then we would love for you to return another time.

The children had not worked with clay before nor had they made mosaics using real tiles.  It certainly made an impact.

PROJECT INFORMATION

  • Each workshop includes an introduction to mosaics, materials and methods, and examples of my/other artists artwork.

  • Every child in the school or a number of year groups can be involved in making the mosaic (from 1m sq), with a maximum of 8 children making per session over the course of a few days or week.  Other children can be involved in additional themed mosaic activities.

  • The motif can be based on the children's drawings or a preset image that Debra can interpret for mosaic purposes. It could also incorporate individual ceramic pieces that are premade by children..

Every project is different ...

Debra can use the children's drawings to design and make the  mosaic with children involvment at various stages.

Shorter projects where children make objects to take home/fundraise such as mirrors, coasters, paving slabs for the school garden.
