Celebrating Summer with a Mosaic Revival
Now that summer has arrived, I'm thrilled to unveil a completed mosaic restoration project that we undertook earlier this year. Nestled right by the British Museum, outside the Abbott & Holder Art Gallery, this stunning piece has been given a new lease on life.
A Collaborative Effort
Working alongside the talented Nadia Zim, a fellow graduate from the Diploma course in Mosaic Studies at the London School of Mosaic, we embarked on this small yet significant restoration project. Our goal was simple: to restore the original entrance floor mosaic to its former glory.
The Beauty of Mosaic Art
This mosaic is not just any piece; it represents a rare gem in London's artistic landscape. With few remaining mosaics of such quality and exquisite design, our work was not only a labour of love but also a contribution to preserving the city's rich cultural heritage.
Join Us in Admiring the Art
As you stroll by the British Museum this summer, or even after visiting the Roman mosaics in the Museum, take a moment to appreciate the intricate details and vibrant colours of this restored mosaic. It's a reminder of the beauty that can be found in mosaic art just under your feet, and the importance of preserving it for future generations (just like the Roman ones!)
